Sipping in Scotland
TeaTime Tours with Linda Leamer
Tour Features Afternoon Teas on Trip to Scotland
Picture yourself in a luxurious setting with a lovely china cup, saucer,
and teapot and a three-tiered plate stacked with finger sandwiches, scones,
and bite-sized desserts. Travelers to Britain on TeaTime Tours
don’t have to imagine this¾for them it is an experience to
be savored several times on each tour.
TeaTime Tours typically include several afternoon teas at locations
ranging from quaint country tea rooms to grand hotels and sometimes ones
hosted in a family home. Most tours also feature other tea-related events
such as a talk by Jane Pettigrew (England’s tea expert), a tour
of a tea exhibit, or perhaps a tea tasting. But the tours also include
plenty of sightseeing so even those who may not be as enthusiastic about
tea (yet!) will enjoy the tour, too.
TeaTime Tours are designed by Linda Ashley Leamer, former London
resident and editor of The TeaTime Gazette (www.teatimegazette.com).
Each itinerary is unique and includes not only well-known sights but also
fascinating areas of Britain that other tours often miss. These reasonably
priced tours are scheduled once a year and are limited to twenty passengers.
Each tour is accompanied by Ms. Leamer and by a knowledgeable professional
tour guide.
"The Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye Tour" is
scheduled for May 14-24, 2003. Passengers will enjoy a Scottish Afternoon
Tea at an Edinburgh hotel, Afternoon Tea in a family home near Inverness,
High Tea in a family home on the Isle of Skye, and a Miss Cranston Tea
at Glasgow’s famous Willow Tea Room designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Other highlights include a Glasgow city tour and visit to the Burrell
Collection located in a lovely wooded setting; Eilean Donan, a romantic
castle on an island in a lake; Glencoe, one of the most dramatic valleys
in Scotland; Loch Ness (and a possible Nessie sighting); a Scottish Evening
with Highland dancers, bagpipers, local food specialties, and a wee dram
of Scotch; and an Edinburgh city tour with visit to Edinburgh Castle and
the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s residence.
